On November 22, 2005, the IIR sponsored a special forum, entitled The Future of the U.S. Labor Movement: Can Unions Rebuild? It featured presentations by Anna Burger, Chair of the Change to Win Federation, and by Stewart Acuff, Organizing Director of the national AFL-CIO. In the aftermath of the disaffiliation of four major unions from the AFL-CIO in July 2005 and the formation of the Change to Win Federation two months later, these speakers represent the two largest labor organizations in the U.S. today.
