On December 5, 2006, the UCLA Institute of Industrial Relations held a special reception to commemorate its 60th anniversary. Special guest speakers included Acting Chancellor Norman Abrams, Vice Chancellor for Research Roberto Peccei, Social Science Dean Scott Waugh, and former Institute Directors Daniel Mitchell and Benjamin Aaron. The Institute was also officially honored with a California Legislature Assembly Resolution jointly presented by Assemblywoman Jackie Goldberg and Assemblyman Paul Koretz as well as a Certificate of Appreciation from Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's office.
